Last week's trip to Hidden Peaks was somewhat disappointing. There was no reward for lugging 45 pounds of gear and food in the back country (though the view was still awesome at 7000 ft). No sunset nor sunrise photography. No astrophotography. The ideas I had just had to wait another week.
This weekend, I drove to Oregon with my cousins and siblings. Car camping this time. Trillium Lake was our first option, but all of the spots including 18 first-come-first-serve spots were taken. A quick call to the ranger station and we found us a spot at Clear Lake. The view wasn't as spectacular as the view from Trillium Lake. Still, we had plenty of fun, good food, and plenty of photo op.
The photo above was taken during our second night. Thanks to my cousin and his girlfriend; they were patient enough to stay still for 30 seconds with bugs swarming their faces.

Malta is so hot.
I don't think I've ever been in such stifling heat before! Walking around anytime between 10am and 4pm was out of the question unfortunately due to the heat so I wasn't able to scope out the place as much as I'd like.
It's a rather surreal place. A tiny island smack in the middle of the Mediterranean. Most people there spoke Italian and Malti but there are still signs of British rule everywhere: people drive on the left side of the road, there are places called Clapham Junction and Victoria and even the beer is sold in pints.
I saw only wisps of clouds in the 5 days we were there. The rest of the time, the sky was completely clear and sunny. It's a very dry, very rocky island - brilliant for long exposures! The coast is peppered with these ladders that help you into the water off the rocks, which is great since they make such intriguing subjects.
I'm a little gutted I didn't manage to shoot as much as I'd like but I'm glad to be back. Hope you've all had a great weekend.

Chasing the right light has become an obsession. It's quite amazing how quickly light turns to the different shades of the spectrum in a short span of time. The photo above was taken only a few minutes before the photo on my previous post.
